There are so many blogs I have have in mind that I hope I will still find time to do -- our friends here in Zurich; my morning jogs through the nearby forest; our neighborhood, bus stop, grocery store and other common places of our daily lives; a comparison of Zurich and Columbus, our neighborhood here vs. Bexley; other sundry reflections our time here; and of course we are still behind on our visitors whom we've been so lucky to have come and share this time with us.
But on this rainy Sunday, as we have started to organize and sort, I got inspired to record the walls of our apartment. Our apartment is basically white -- white walls, white cabinets, white shelves, white refrigerator, white table, white sheets and white bed covers (thankfully not a white carpet however--hard to imagine how horrible that would be, given how badly we've managed to trash the brown/beige carpet into which everything is *supposed* to blend). Anyways, the apartment was so white it was blinding when we first arrived. Over the year, we have decorated largely with drawings by the boys, artwork we have recieved, and photos of family and friends. While the photos will come back with us, the longevity of the drawings is in question (I would bring them all back, but Brian applies a higher standard). So for posterity, here are our walls and other formerly white spaces in our apartment (with a few miscellaneous apartment pics mixed in)...

Elena,
I have enjoyed reading your blog this year! I am in awe of your family! You are adventurous and creative. I think the Azzaros might have killed each other by now if we had done what you guys have! ;-)
How the heck are you going to integrate back into "the grind" after such an idyllic year?
We will catch up via phone when you return.
Much love,
Susannah
